8 week course
Wednesdays from 6-8PM
April 22nd - June 10th 2026
This course is designed for anyone curious about developing a more confident, embodied, and sustainable relationship with their voice. Through guided vocal exploration, gentle movement and somatic awareness, group exercises, and simple recording experiments, we will explore how the voice functions as both a physical instrument and a site of identity and expression. All levels are welcome, regardless of prior singing experience.
Classes will include practices such as breath work, humming, speaking and singing phrases, listening and reflection, and recording experiments focused on exploring vocal timbre in both live and recorded contexts. Participation in ways that feel most supportive is encouraged, and this may include listening, working quietly, or using imagined voice if you prefer not to share your voice aloud. The workload is modest, with at-home practices that are scalable, repeatable, and adaptable to daily life.
You will leave the course with a clearer sense of how to support your voice and creativity through a regular ritual, practical tools for reducing effort and tension while vocalizing, increased confidence using your voice in different settings, and a deeper understanding of how your voice connects to your inner experience. Course materials draw inspiration from sources such as The Artist’s Way, the McClosky Technique, yogic practices, and writings on attention, embodiment, and creative practice. The course also incorporates self-regulation approaches informed by recent research, including breath-based techniques, nervous system awareness, mindset practices, and insights from vocology and speech therapy.
